Product Overview
Restore a secure, serviceable top closure on a compatible Pentair Triton II sand filter with the Pentair 154641 Closure Kit. This genuine Pentair replacement assembly uses a 6-inch buttress-thread design and replaces a cracked, leaking, damaged, or difficult-to-remove filter closure.
The closure seals the large service opening at the top of the filter tank. This opening provides access to internal filter components and allows sand to be added or removed during major maintenance. A damaged dome, flattened O-ring, faulty air-bleed assembly, or worn thread can prevent the filter from sealing correctly and may create an unsafe pressurized condition.
The complete kit includes the black closure dome, dome O-ring, pressure gauge, air-bleed assembly, closure wrench, and supporting installation hardware. Using the matching factory components helps restore the original closure configuration without sourcing each part separately.

Compatibility
The 154641 closure is used on compatible Triton II filters with a 6-inch buttress-thread tank opening. Common applications include TR100 and TR140 models, along with certain older TR40 and TR50/TR60 filters produced within qualifying manufacturing periods.
Pentair also produced Triton filters with V-thread closures, which require a different replacement kit. Buttress-thread and V-thread closures are not interchangeable. Confirm the filter model, manufacturing date, thread shape, tank opening, and existing closure part before ordering.
Installation Information
Turn off the circulation pump and disconnect power before servicing the filter. Open the air-relief valve and verify that the pressure gauge reads zero. Never loosen or remove the closure while the filter is pressurized.
Remove the existing dome using the appropriate closure wrench. Clean the tank threads and O-ring sealing surfaces, then inspect the opening for cracks, deformation, or damaged threads.
Apply a light coating of manufacturer-approved silicone lubricant to the new O-ring. Do not use petroleum-based lubricants or thread sealant on the closure threads. Install and tighten the dome according to Pentair instructions without forcing or cross-threading it.
Restart the system with the air-relief valve open. Close the valve after a steady stream of water appears, then inspect the closure for leakage.

Warranty Information
Warranty coverage is subject to Pentair’s current replacement-part terms, correct filter compatibility, proof of purchase, and proper installation. Damage caused by opening a pressurized filter, incompatible threads, overtightening, freezing, or incorrect assembly may not be covered.
