How to use this calculator
Different formulations and strengths can have different dosing instructions. Instead of assigning one amount to every product, this calculator asks for the label dose, the water volume it treats, and the stated ppm change. Results retain the liquid or dry unit you select.

Worked example
Suppose a specific product label says 16 US fluid ounces treats 10,000 gallons for a 1 ppm increase. A 20,000-gallon pool needing a 2 ppm increase scales that label quantity to 64 fluid ounces. This is an illustrative label, not a recommended dose for an unnamed chlorine product.

Turn your result into a plan
Use fresh water-test results and a known pool volume before dosing. Automated water-treatment equipment can be part of a maintenance plan, but it does not replace product directions or testing. Ask PSD about equipment compatibility when planning a sanitizer upgrade.

Does this calculate a muriatic acid or pH dose?
No. pH adjustments depend on buffering, current alkalinity, chemical strength and the product instructions. This tool does not infer an acid dose from the difference between two pH readings.
Can I enter ounces for liquid chlorine?
Use fluid ounces for a liquid-volume label. Ounces by weight are a separate dry unit. The calculator does not convert between weight and liquid volume or assume a product density.
What if the label gives a routine dose without ppm?
Choose the volume-based method. The amount then scales by your pool gallons divided by the label’s treated gallons, without a ppm multiplier.
Is the result the amount I should add in one application?
Only if it also meets the product label’s application and maximum-dose instructions. Never mix different chemicals. Follow circulation, retesting and swimming wait-time directions.
