Heat Pump vs. Gas Heater

A heat pump pulls heat from the outside air, so it costs much less to run than a gas heater. It works best when the air is above about 50°F, which makes it a great fit for Las Vegas spring, summer and fall swimming. Gas heaters heat faster and work in any weather. Many pools use both.

Heat/Cool Models

In the desert, pool water can get too warm in July and August. Heat/cool heat pumps, like the UltraTemp H/C, Jandy VersaTemp and Nirvana heat/cool, and dedicated chillers like the AquaCal TropiCool, can cool your pool water as well as heat it.

Sizing
