How to Choose a Jandy Heater

JXiQ or JXi. JXiQ is the current model and the right choice for new installs. Pick JXi when you are swapping out an existing JXi and want the same fit.
Fuel. N = natural gas, P = propane. Order the one that matches your gas supply.
Heat exchanger. Copper for normal residential use; cupronickel (NN, NS) for salt pools, spas and commercial water.
Size. See the sizing guide below. Most Las Vegas Valley pools with a spa land on 260K or 400K.
Heat pump instead? VersaTemp runs on electricity, costs less per hour of heating, and can cool the pool in summer.

Sizing Guide: How Big a Heater Do I Need?

A gas heater raises your pool roughly this many degrees per hour: (BTU × efficiency) ÷ (gallons × 8.34). Example: a 400,000 BTU heater at 84% efficiency on a 20,000-gallon pool adds about 2°F per hour.

What does VersaFlo do?

It is Jandy's built-in bypass that manages water flow through the heater, so it works with a wider range of pump speeds and plumbing without an external bypass.

Will a JXiQ fit where my old JXi was?

Plumbing and venting are close, but measure the pad and gas connection before ordering. Send us your existing model and pad photos and we'll check the fit.

Does it work with my automation?
