The AST165 uses a standard 56J C-face mounting configuration with a threaded stainless-steel shaft. It is commonly selected as a replacement for compatible Hayward Super Pump, MaxFlo, Super II, and other pool pumps requiring the same frame, shaft, voltage, and hydraulic rating.
Dual-voltage capability allows the motor to operate on either 115V or 230V single-phase electrical service. The motor must be correctly configured for the available voltage during installation. Aqua-Shield construction includes enhanced bearing protection, a two-compartment design, and sealed ball bearings for dependable performance around pool equipment.

Compatibility
The AST165 is commonly used with compatible Hayward Super Pump, MaxFlo, and Super II pump assemblies. It may also fit select American Products, Pentair, Astral, Jacuzzi, Jandy, and other pumps requiring a 56J C-face motor with a threaded shaft.
Motor fit cannot be confirmed by horsepower alone. Compare the existing motor’s total horsepower, service factor, voltage, frame, shaft thread, flange, amperage, and rotation before ordering. The pump’s impeller and diffuser must also match the motor load.
Installation Information
Installation should be completed by a qualified pool technician or electrician. Disconnect and lock out electrical power before servicing the pump.
Configure the motor for the correct supply voltage according to the wiring diagram on the motor. Replace the mechanical shaft seal whenever the motor is removed from the pump wet end. Inspect the impeller, diffuser, seal plate, housing gasket, and electrical connections before reassembly.
Prime the pump completely before startup. Never operate the motor with the pump dry.
