Product Overview

The Century H636 is a commercial-grade replacement pool and spa pump motor designed for compatible pump systems requiring a 1.5 HP, three-phase, single-speed motor. It operates at 3450 RPM and can be configured for 208-230V or 460V, 60 Hz electrical service.

With a 1.47 service factor, the H636 provides approximately 2.21 total horsepower. It features a 56Y frame, square-flange mounting configuration, threaded stainless-steel shaft, ball bearings, continuous-duty construction, and an open drip-proof enclosure. The motor does not include internal overload protection, so properly sized external motor protection is required.

Specifications

Specifications are based on current Century H636 motor data.

Compatible Applications

The H636 is designed for pumps requiring a 1.5 HP full-rated, three-phase motor with a 56Y square-flange frame and threaded shaft.

Compatibility cannot be determined by horsepower alone. Before ordering, compare the original motor’s voltage, phase, frame, service factor, total horsepower, amperage, shaft style, flange, RPM, and rotation.

What Is Included

• Century H636 pump motor
• Threaded stainless-steel shaft
• Factory-installed ball bearings
• Motor wiring compartment

Not Included: Pump housing, impeller, diffuser, seal plate, shaft seal, O-rings, motor starter, contactor, overload protection, wiring, or installation labor.

Installation Information

Professional installation by a licensed electrician or qualified pool technician is required. Confirm the available three-phase voltage and configure the motor leads according to the wiring diagram. Install properly sized external overload protection and verify correct rotation before normal operation.

Always install a new mechanical shaft seal selected for the exact pump model. Reusing an old seal can allow water to enter the motor and damage the bearings. Prime the pump completely before startup and never operate it without water.

Confirm Before Ordering

• Confirm model H636
• Verify 1.5 HP and approximately 2.21 THP
• Confirm three-phase power
• Verify 208-230V or 460V operation
• Confirm 56Y square-flange mounting
• Verify threaded shaft configuration
• Confirm 3450 RPM single-speed operation
• Compare all specifications with the original nameplate

Warranty Information

The Century H636 is covered by the manufacturer’s applicable limited warranty. Coverage may require correct motor selection, professional installation, balanced three-phase power, proper external overload protection, correct wiring, and installation of a new shaft seal.

Damage caused by incorrect voltage, phase loss, voltage imbalance, improper overload settings, water intrusion, dry operation, or improper installation may not be covered.

Customer Q&A

Is this a single-phase motor?
No. The H636 requires three-phase electrical power.

Does it include a shaft seal?
No. The seal must be selected according to the pump model.

Can it replace any 1.5 HP motor?
No. Frame, phase, voltage, service factor, total horsepower, shaft, and mounting style must match.

Does it have internal overload protection?
No. Proper external overload protection is required.
