Product Overview

The Pentair Sand Filter Lateral, Long 152290Z is a replacement internal lateral designed for compatible Pentair sand filters. Laterals are located inside the filter tank at the bottom of the sand bed and help collect filtered water while keeping sand media inside the filter.

This long lateral is commonly used when repairing or rebuilding the internal lateral assembly of compatible Pentair sand filters. If a lateral becomes cracked, broken, or worn, sand can pass through the filter and return to the pool. Replacing damaged laterals helps restore proper filtration and keeps the filter operating as intended.

As a genuine Pentair replacement part, the 152290Z is designed to match the fit and function required for compatible sand filter models.

Key Features

Genuine Pentair Replacement Part

Designed as a replacement lateral for compatible Pentair sand filter systems.

Long Lateral Design

This model is the long version of the sand filter lateral, intended for specific Pentair filter assemblies that require the longer lateral style.

Helps Keep Sand Inside the Filter

The lateral allows filtered water to pass through while helping prevent sand media from returning to the pool.

Supports Proper Filtration

A properly functioning lateral assembly helps maintain efficient water flow through the sand bed and filter system.

Useful During Sand Changes

Because laterals are located beneath the sand bed, they are commonly inspected or replaced when the filter sand is removed.

Sold Individually

This listing is for one long lateral. Some filters require multiple laterals for a complete replacement set.

Benefits

The Pentair 152290Z Sand Filter Lateral, Long helps restore proper sand filter performance by replacing a damaged or worn internal lateral. Broken laterals can allow sand to return through the pool returns, reduce filtration quality, and cause repeated maintenance issues.

Replacing the damaged lateral helps keep sand media inside the tank, supports proper water flow, and improves the reliability of the filtration system. This part is especially useful during sand changes, filter rebuilds, or service repairs on compatible Pentair sand filters.

Specifications

Important Compatibility Notes

This long lateral is designed for select Pentair sand filter assemblies. Always confirm the filter model number, hub style, lateral length, thread style, and parts diagram before ordering.

This item is sold individually. Many sand filters use multiple laterals, so customers should confirm the required quantity before beginning service.

To replace laterals, the filter media usually needs to be removed from the tank. Inspect the hub, standpipe, laterals, air relief components, and internal fittings while the filter is open.

Customer-Facing Q&A

Q: What does this lateral do?
A: The lateral collects filtered water at the bottom of the sand filter while helping keep sand media inside the tank.

Q: What does “long” mean?
A: “Long” refers to the lateral style and length. Some Pentair sand filters require long laterals, while others use different lateral sizes or configurations.

Q: Why is sand coming back into my pool?
A: Sand returning to the pool is often caused by a cracked lateral, damaged hub, broken standpipe, or incorrect filter assembly.

Q: Is this sold individually?
A: Yes. This listing is for one Pentair 152290Z long lateral.

Q: How many laterals do I need?
A: The required quantity depends on the specific filter model. Check the filter parts diagram before ordering.

Q: Do I need to remove the sand to replace this part?
A: Yes. Laterals are located under the sand bed, so the sand usually needs to be removed before replacement.

Q: Can I replace only one lateral?
A: Yes, if only one lateral is damaged. However, if the laterals are old or brittle, replacing the full set during a sand change may help prevent future repairs.

Q: Will this fit all Pentair sand filters?
A: No. This part fits select Pentair sand filters only. Confirm your filter model and parts diagram before ordering.
