Product Overview

The Pentair WhisperFlo High Performance Pump 011644 is a commercial-duty, three-phase pool pump designed for high-flow circulation applications. Built with Pentair’s proven WhisperFlo hydraulic design, this pump delivers strong water movement for larger pool systems, commercial-style equipment pads, and demanding circulation setups.

This model is a 3 HP, 208–230/460V, 60 Hz, three-phase pump. It is intended for systems with compatible three-phase electrical service and should not be used as a direct replacement for standard single-phase residential pumps unless the electrical requirements have been verified by a qualified professional.

Because pump compatibility depends on horsepower, voltage, phase, plumbing layout, and system design, always confirm your existing pump specifications before ordering.

Compatibility Guidance

This pump is intended for systems requiring a 3 HP, three-phase Pentair WhisperFlo pump.

Before ordering, verify the following:

You need Pentair part number 011644.
Your system uses compatible three-phase electrical service.
Your required voltage is 208–230/460V.
Your existing pump or system design requires a 3 HP high performance pump.
Your plumbing layout, pipe size, and equipment pad can support this pump.
Your filter, heater, valves, and other pool equipment are rated for the expected flow.
A licensed electrician or pool professional has confirmed compatibility.

This pump should not be selected by horsepower alone. Voltage, phase, service requirements, plumbing, and total system flow must all be verified before purchase.

Confirm Before Ordering

Before purchasing, please confirm:

You are replacing a compatible Pentair WhisperFlo pump or installing a system designed for this model.
You need a 3 HP pump.
Your electrical service is three-phase, not standard single-phase residential power.
Your installation requires 208–230/460V compatibility.
You do not need a variable speed pump.
Your installer has verified system flow, plumbing, and electrical compatibility.
Professional installation will be completed by a qualified pool technician or licensed electrician.

Benefits

The Pentair WhisperFlo 011644 is designed to deliver strong, dependable circulation for pool systems that require higher flow and three-phase electrical operation. Its WhisperFlo hydraulic design helps move water efficiently through compatible filtration, heating, and circulation systems.

For commercial-style pool applications or large systems with properly matched equipment, this pump can provide the power needed for demanding daily operation. When installed correctly, it helps support filtration performance, water clarity, and overall system circulation.

Important Electrical Notice

This is a three-phase pump. It is not the same as a typical single-phase residential pool pump.

Do not purchase this pump unless your electrical service and equipment controls are compatible with three-phase 208–230/460V power. Installation should be handled by a qualified pool professional and licensed electrician.

Ordering the wrong phase or voltage can result in installation failure, equipment damage, unsafe operation, or return issues.

Recommended Use

Use the Pentair WhisperFlo 011644 when your pool system requires a 3 HP three-phase high performance pump and your equipment pad is designed for the required voltage and flow.

For standard residential pools, single-phase systems, or customers looking for energy savings, a different pump configuration or a variable speed model may be more appropriate. Confirm with your pool professional before replacing an existing pump.

Installation Notes

This pump should be installed by a qualified pool professional or licensed electrician. Pump installation may involve high-voltage wiring, bonding, grounding, plumbing connections, priming, system testing, and verification of flow rates.

Professional installation is recommended to ensure:

Correct voltage and phase wiring
Proper bonding and grounding
Correct plumbing connection
Proper pump priming
Leak-free installation
Safe electrical operation
Compatibility with filter, heater, valves, and other pool equipment
Correct startup and system testing

Improper installation may cause equipment damage, electrical hazards, poor performance, leaks, or voided warranty coverage.

Technical Specifications

Customer-Facing Q&A

Q: Is this a complete pump?
A: Yes. This is a complete Pentair WhisperFlo high performance pump, not just a replacement motor.

Q: Is this pump for residential pools?
A: It may be used on compatible residential systems, but only where the electrical service and system design match the pump’s three-phase requirements. Most standard residential pools use single-phase power, so compatibility must be verified before ordering.

Q: Is this a three-phase pump?
A: Yes. This model is rated for 208–230/460V, 60 Hz, three-phase operation.

Q: Can this replace a standard single-phase WhisperFlo pump?
A: No, not unless your electrical system is designed for three-phase power. Always verify voltage and phase before ordering.

Q: Is this a variable speed pump?
A: No. This is a single speed high performance pump.

Q: What horsepower is this pump?
A: This model is rated at 3 HP.

Q: Can I order this pump by horsepower alone?
A: No. Horsepower alone is not enough to confirm compatibility. You must verify part number, voltage, phase, plumbing, and system requirements.

Q: Who should install this pump?
A: A qualified pool professional or licensed electrician should install this pump due to its electrical and plumbing requirements.

Q: What should I check before ordering?
A: Confirm that you need part number 011644, your system requires a 3 HP three-phase pump, and your electrical service supports 208–230/460V three-phase operation.
