Product Overview
Restore proper internal water-flow regulation in a compatible Raypak pool or spa heater with the Raypak 016194F Digital Heater Bypass Valve Kit. This genuine Raypak replacement assembly is designed for select residential Digital and Low NOx heaters equipped with polymer water headers.
The internal bypass valve controls how much circulating water passes directly through the heat exchanger and how much bypasses it inside the header. Maintaining the correct flow balance allows the heater to warm the water efficiently while helping protect the heat exchanger from condensation, overheating, erosion, and damaging temperature fluctuations.
A worn, broken, scaled, or stuck bypass valve may contribute to poor heating performance, unusually high outlet-water temperatures, rattling or boiling sounds, cycling on the high-limit switches, restricted circulation, or premature heat-exchanger damage. Replacing the damaged assembly can restore the heater’s original water-flow path when the bypass valve has been correctly diagnosed as the problem.

Compatibility
The 016194F bypass-valve kit is commonly used with select Raypak heater models in the following families:
- Digital 206A, 266A, 336A, and 406A
- Low NOx 207A, 267A, 337A, and 407A
- Additional compatible polymer-header models identified in Raypak parts diagrams
Compatibility depends on the complete heater model, serial number, manufacturing date, water-header material, and internal bypass design. It should not automatically be ordered for ASME, metal-header, commercial, or older heater configurations.
Installation Information
Turn off electrical power and the gas supply, stop the circulation pump, allow the heater to cool, and relieve all system pressure before beginning service. Drain the heater header as necessary.
Remove the existing bypass components and inspect the header, bypass opening, internal spring, thermal regulator, O-rings, and heat exchanger for scale, corrosion, cracks, or debris. Install the replacement components in the correct direction according to the applicable Raypak service instructions.
After reassembly, restore circulation and inspect the header for leaks before operating the burner. Verify proper flow, temperature rise, heater pressure, ignition, and high-limit operation.
Do not operate the heater with missing, modified, or incorrectly installed bypass components. Professional installation by a qualified pool-heater technician is strongly recommended.
Package Contents
- Raypak internal bypass-valve component
- Bypass spring
- Factory-supplied installation components
The polymer header, heat exchanger, thermal regulator, header O-rings, plumbing fittings, tools, and installation labor are not included unless specifically supplied in the current factory package.
Warranty Information
Warranty coverage is subject to Raypak’s current replacement-part terms, proof of purchase, correct heater compatibility, and proper installation. Damage caused by freezing, improper water chemistry, scale, excessive flow, restricted circulation, incorrect assembly, or installation errors may not be covered.
