Product Overview

The Hayward Super Pump VS W3SP2603VSP is a 1.65 total-horsepower variable-speed pump designed for residential in-ground swimming pools. Built on the familiar Super Pump platform, it provides an efficient replacement option for many older single-speed Super Pump installations while maintaining a compact footprint and straightforward service access.

The variable-speed motor allows the pump to operate at lower speeds for routine filtration and higher speeds when additional flow is needed for heating, cleaning, spa circulation, or water features. Running at reduced speeds can significantly lower energy consumption compared with operating a single-speed pump continuously at full power.

This model operates on 230V single-phase electrical service and features a permanent-magnet, totally enclosed fan-cooled motor. The enclosed motor design helps protect internal components from moisture, dirt, and debris commonly found around pool equipment pads.

The integrated digital controller allows users to program operating speeds and schedules directly at the pump. This listing includes the complete pump with motor, drive, strainer housing, basket, lid, and wet end. External automation systems, relays, communication accessories, and plumbing materials are not included.

Benefits

The ability to adjust motor speed allows the Super Pump VS to match the flow requirements of different pool functions. Lower speeds are ideal for daily filtration, while higher speeds can be programmed for heaters, suction cleaners, water features, or spa operation.

Reducing pump speed can lower energy use, decrease plumbing noise, and reduce pressure on filters and other pool equipment. The variable-speed design also allows longer filtration cycles at reduced flow, which may improve water circulation and sanitizer distribution.

The Super Pump housing provides easy access to the oversized strainer basket. Its clear lid allows the basket condition to be checked without opening the pump, while the swing-away hand knobs simplify routine maintenance.

Installation Information

Install the pump on a stable, level equipment pad with sufficient ventilation and drainage. The suction plumbing should be airtight and properly sized for the required flow.

This pump requires a dedicated 230V electrical circuit, proper overcurrent protection, grounding, and bonding. Electrical work must comply with applicable local and national codes.

Fill the pump housing with water before startup. Never operate the pump dry, as dry operation can damage the mechanical shaft seal and internal components.

Installation by a qualified pool professional or licensed electrician is recommended.

Confirm Before Ordering

Verify the following:

• Your pool requires a 1.65 HP variable-speed pump.
