Pool Supply Depot IntelliFlo Drive Rebuild Service

If your Pentair IntelliFlo variable speed pump is no longer powering on, showing no keypad lights, displaying no screen, or giving an overcurrent warning, the issue may be a failed pump drive. At Pool Supply Depot, we offer an in-house rebuild service for select IntelliFlo drives, giving customers another option before replacing the entire drive or pump.

What Drives Can We Rebuild?

Pool Supply Depot can rebuild the following IntelliFlo variable speed pump drives:

  • XF drives
  • VS drives
  • VSF drives
  • SVRS drives

Customers ship the drive directly to our facility, and our team inspects, rebuilds, and tests the drive in-house.

Common Signs of a Bad IntelliFlo Drive

Before sending in your drive, it is important to confirm that the pump is receiving proper power. The pump drive should be checked for 240 volts at Line 1 and Line 2.

If 240 volts are present and the drive still has no lights on the keypad, no display on the screen, or no lights above the Start and Stop button, the drive is most likely fried or defective.

In some cases, the display may still turn on, but the pump may show an overcurrent warning. This can also indicate a bad drive.

Make Sure the Motor Is Not Frozen

Before removing the drive, we recommend confirming that the motor is not frozen or defective.

With the power turned off, remove the fan plate cover and spin the fan blades by hand. If the fan blades spin freely, the motor is most likely still in good condition.

Our Rebuild Process

All IntelliFlo drive rebuilds are completed in-house by Pool Supply Depot.

After the rebuild is completed, we test the drive with power and connect it to a tester motor. If the drive is working properly after the rebuild, we send the customer video proof by email showing the rebuilt drive powered on and the tester motor spinning.

Our current rebuild success rate is approximately 8 out of 10 drives.

Rebuild Cost and Warranty

If the rebuild is successful, the service cost is $495.

Rebuilt drives include a 60-day warranty.

Return shipping is the customer’s responsibility. Customers can choose the shipping rate or service they prefer for the drive to be shipped back to them.

If the drive does not work after the rebuild attempt, we will notify the customer. If the customer wants the drive returned, they must provide a return shipping label.

How to Remove the IntelliFlo Drive

Before removing the drive, shut off power to the pump at the breaker.

Always confirm there is no voltage at Line 1 and Line 2 before touching or removing wires. If you are not comfortable working around electrical equipment, contact a qualified pool professional or electrician.

General removal steps:

  1. Shut power off to the pump.
  2. Confirm there is no voltage going to Line 1 and Line 2 at the drive.
  3. Unscrew the black terminal and remove the power wires.
  4. Remove the three long Phillips screws inside the drive.
  5. Carefully remove the drive from the motor.
  6. Take a picture of the serial number located under the barcode that starts with 176 for your records.

How to Help Prevent Future Drive Failure

To help prevent VS drive failure in the future, we recommend lowering the pump RPM below 3000 RPM.

Running the pump below 3000 RPM can help reduce over-amping and premature drive failure.
