Replacing an existing light

Start with voltage: a 120V light replaces a 120V light, and a 12V light runs from a low-voltage transformer. Then match the niche (pool, spa or 1.5-inch fitting) and the cord length from the light to your junction box, with a little extra. Stainless or plastic face rings are a style choice. If your old light is an incandescent or halogen fixture, the ColorLogic LED bulb or a Universal ColorLogic 2.0 retrofit can be an easier upgrade than a full new fixture. For a comparison with Pentair and Jandy, see our best pool lights for 2026 guide.

Control and automation

ColorLogic lights can be switched through their built-in color shows, and controlled with compatible Hayward automation such as OmniLogic and OmniPL for synchronized colors and scheduling.

ColorLogic FAQ

What is the difference between ColorLogic 4.0 and Universal ColorLogic 2.0?
ColorLogic 4.0 is Hayward's 120V full-size pool and spa light. Universal ColorLogic 2.0 is a 12V low-voltage light built to fit a wide range of existing niches, which makes it a common retrofit choice.

Do I need a transformer?
Only for the 12V Universal ColorLogic 2.0 lights. ColorLogic 4.0 lights and the LED bulb run on 120V. Always install to electrical code.
