Before replacing a single-speed pump, check whether a variable speed pump is required in your area; many replacements now must be variable speed. Our variable speed pump guide explains sizing, and our TriStar VS collection covers Hayward's higher-flow variable speed line.

Super Pump and Super II parts

Super Pump or Super II?

The two look similar but parts are not always interchangeable. Check the model on your pump label: SP2600 series is a Super Pump and SP3000 series is a Super II. Impellers and diffusers are also matched to horsepower, so confirm the HP rating before ordering.

Common Super Pump problems

Air in the system is most often a cracked strainer lid or worn lid O-ring. Leaks at the pump body usually point to a worn shaft seal, and loud grinding typically means motor bearings. A seal and O-ring kit fixes most leaks for far less than a new pump.

Super Pump FAQ

Can I upgrade my Super Pump to variable speed without replumbing?
Usually, yes. The Super Pump VS shares the Super Pump body style, so it is a common drop-in upgrade. Confirm your plumbing and voltage before ordering.

Why is my Super Pump sucking air?
Check the strainer lid and lid O-ring first. A cracked lid or a dry, flattened O-ring is the most common cause.
