Product Overview
Repair short, damaged, or inaccessible PVC plumbing connections with the Waterway 418-5000 1½-Inch Pipe Extender. This specialized Schedule 40 PVC repair fitting is designed to restore a usable pipe connection when standard 1½-inch PVC pipe has broken off too close to a fitting or when there is not enough exposed pipe remaining for a conventional coupling.
The smaller end of the extender fits inside standard 1½-inch Schedule 40 PVC pipe. The opposite end provides the same outside diameter as standard 1½-inch PVC pipe, allowing it to connect directly into a compatible 1½-inch socket fitting.
This inside-pipe design can help avoid removing an otherwise usable valve, manifold, pump connection, spa fitting, or plumbing assembly. It is especially useful in tight pool and spa equipment areas where cutting out and rebuilding the surrounding plumbing would be difficult or expensive.

How It Works
The reduced-diameter end is glued inside the remaining section of 1½-inch PVC pipe. Once installed, the larger end functions like a new section of standard 1½-inch pipe and can be inserted into a valve, elbow, coupling, union, or other compatible socket fitting.
Because the extender fits inside the pipe, the internal water passage is slightly smaller than standard full-bore 1½-inch plumbing. It should be used as a repair fitting where the convenience of restoring the connection outweighs the minor reduction in internal diameter.
Installation Information
Turn off the circulation pump and relieve all system pressure before cutting or repairing pool plumbing. Drain and dry the work area completely.
Cut the damaged pipe square and remove burrs, glue residue, and loose material. Dry-fit the extender and the adjoining fitting before applying cement. Clean and prime the mating surfaces, then apply PVC solvent cement approved for Schedule 40 pressure plumbing.
Insert the extender fully into the existing pipe and hold it in place according to the cement manufacturer’s directions. Allow the connection to cure completely before pressurizing the system.
The fitting should not be forced into distorted, cracked, or heat-damaged pipe. Replace additional plumbing when the remaining pipe cannot provide a secure solvent-weld connection.
