Product Specifications

56Y Square-Flange Design

The 56Y square-flange frame is commonly used on high-performance in-ground swimming pool pumps. The square mounting flange attaches directly to the pump's seal plate, while the threaded motor shaft connects to the pump impeller.

When replacing an existing pump motor, do not select a replacement based on horsepower alone. Verify the original motor's:

• Horsepower
• Service factor or total horsepower
• Voltage
• Frame size
• Flange style
• Shaft configuration
• Pump model

Matching Total Horsepower (HP × Service Factor) is particularly important when selecting a replacement motor.

Built for Pool & Spa Applications

The Century B2855 is engineered specifically for the operating conditions encountered in pool and spa equipment installations. Its stainless-steel shaft provides increased corrosion resistance, while sealed ball bearings support smooth and dependable operation.

Automatic thermal protection helps protect the motor if operating temperatures rise beyond acceptable limits. The motor is also rated for continuous-duty applications and a maximum ambient temperature of approximately 122°F / 50°C.

Important Installation Notice – Replace the Shaft Seal

A new mechanical shaft seal should be installed whenever a pool pump motor is replaced.

Do not reuse the existing shaft seal. An old or damaged mechanical seal can allow pool water to leak along the motor shaft and into the new motor, potentially causing bearing damage, corrosion, or premature motor failure.

The correct shaft seal depends on the specific pump model, not the motor model.

We recommend identifying your pump manufacturer and model before ordering the appropriate seal or complete go-kit.

Important California & New York Notice

This is a 2 HP single-speed pool pump motor and may be restricted from sale or installation in California and New York due to applicable pool pump energy-efficiency regulations.

Customers should verify applicable state and local requirements before ordering or installing this motor. A compliant variable-speed replacement may be required in certain jurisdictions.

Replacement Motor Notice

The Century B2855 is the motor only.

Pump housing, seal plate, diffuser, impeller, mechanical shaft seal, gaskets, O-rings, wiring, and other pump components are not included unless specifically stated otherwise.

Always verify your existing pump and motor specifications before ordering.
