Product Overview

Restore proper operation to your Pentair A&A in-floor pool cleaning system with the Pentair 230069 / A&A 582928 Complete 6-Port Low Profile T-Valve Rebuild Gear Kit.

Designed specifically for compatible 2-inch, 6-port low-profile A&A T-Valve water valves, this genuine replacement kit contains the primary internal components needed to rebuild a worn valve actuator without replacing the complete valve housing.

As an in-floor cleaning system operates, the water valve continuously cycles water between different cleaning zones. Over time, the internal gear assembly, impeller, cam, shaft, washers, and seals can wear, causing the valve to stop advancing correctly or distribute water inefficiently.

The 230069 rebuild kit replaces these critical internal components to help restore smooth valve sequencing, proper zone rotation, and consistent water distribution throughout the in-floor cleaning system.

This kit is the current Pentair part number 230069 and corresponds to A&A Manufacturing part number 582928. It also replaces previous A&A kit 540277.

Product Specifications

Compatible In-Floor Cleaning Systems

The 230069 / 582928 rebuild kit is used with compatible A&A 2" Low Profile 6-Port T-Valve water valves found in several A&A in-floor cleaning systems, including:

• A&A Magna Sweep
• A&A Quick Clean
• A&A California Clean
• A&A Turbo Clean
• A&A Auto Clean
• A&A Smart Clean

Compatibility depends on the water valve configuration, not simply the name of the in-floor cleaning system.

Important Valve Compatibility

Before ordering, verify that your existing valve is a:

2" Low Profile
6-Port
T-Valve Style
A&A / Pentair Water Valve

This kit is specifically designed for the 2-inch valve base.

Have a 1½" valve?

Do not order the 230069 based solely on appearance.

Pentair identifies 230148 / A&A 582936 as the 6-Port Low Profile T-Valve Kit for the 1½-inch configuration.

Have large acrylic balls instead of T-Valve clips?

This is also important.

The 230069 / 582928 kit is intended for the low-profile valve configuration that uses T-Valves / T-Valve clips.

If the bottom of your valve uses large acrylic ball valves rather than T-Valves, a different replacement kit is required.

Always inspect your existing valve before ordering.

Updated Gear Plate Design

Customers replacing an older A&A gear assembly may notice that the new gear plate does not look exactly like the component being removed.

This is normal.

The updated replacement gear plate utilizes a newer 10-gear design instead of the previous 5-gear configuration. The updated design was introduced to promote more even wear across the gear assembly.

The different appearance does not necessarily indicate that the wrong part was ordered.

How the A&A Water Valve Works

An in-floor pool cleaning system divides the pool into several cleaning zones.

The water valve directs pressurized water to one zone at a time. As water moves through the valve, the internal impeller drives the gear mechanism. The gears gradually rotate the cam, which changes which T-Valves are open or closed.

This sequencing directs water to different groups of in-floor cleaning heads around the pool.

When the internal gears or other components wear out, the valve may stop sequencing correctly, which can significantly reduce cleaning performance.

Common Signs Your Water Valve Needs Rebuilding

Consider inspecting the valve if you experience:

• In-floor cleaning heads remaining on the same zone
• Valve no longer advancing between zones
• Weak cleaning action in portions of the pool
• Certain zones operating continuously
• Inconsistent flow between zones
• Valve mechanism sticking
• Worn or damaged internal gears
• Broken gear teeth
• Impeller damage
• Excessive internal valve wear
• Water valve making unusual clicking or grinding noises
• Cleaning heads failing to cycle as they previously did

These symptoms can have multiple causes, so verify water pressure, pump operation, filters, plumbing, cleaning heads, and valve condition before replacing components.

Why Rebuild Instead of Replacing the Complete Valve?

If the valve housing, lid, and T-Valves remain in usable condition, replacing the internal gear mechanism can be much more economical than replacing the entire water valve.

The Pentair 230069 provides the primary components involved in the valve's mechanical sequencing system, making it an excellent repair option for an otherwise serviceable valve.

Benefits include:

• Restoring valve sequencing
• Extending the life of the existing water valve
• Improving zone-to-zone water distribution
• Reducing unnecessary complete-valve replacement
• Maintaining proper operation of the in-floor cleaning system

Genuine Pentair A&A Replacement

A&A Manufacturing has long been associated with in-floor pool cleaning and circulation systems. These products are now supported within Pentair's in-floor cleaning product line.

For this kit:

A&A Item Number: 582928
Pentair Item Number: 230069
Previous Kit Number: 540277

These numbers may appear differently in older parts diagrams, invoices, valve documentation, or online listings, but they refer to this replacement application.

Installation Notes

Before servicing the water valve:

1. Turn off the pool pump.
2. Shut off electrical power to the circulation system.
3. Relieve pressure from the filtration system.
4. Remove the water valve lid carefully.
5. Inspect the existing internal components and valve configuration.
6. Confirm the valve has a 2-inch base and 6-port T-Valve configuration.
7. Replace worn components according to Pentair installation procedures.
8. Inspect the valve lid O-ring and sealing surfaces before reassembly.
9. Restart the system and confirm that all cleaning zones sequence properly.

Professional installation is recommended if you are unfamiliar with A&A water valves or in-floor cleaning systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Pentair 230069 and A&A 582928 the same part?

Yes. 582928 is the A&A item number and 230069 is the corresponding Pentair item number for the 2" 6-Port Low Profile T-Valve Kit.

What older part number does this replace?

The kit replaces previous A&A kit 540277.

What size valve does this kit fit?

This kit is intended for the 2-inch Low Profile 6-Port T-Valve configuration.

Does it fit a 1½-inch A&A valve?

Pentair lists 230148 / 582936 separately for the 1½" 6-Port Low Profile T-Valve configuration. Verify your valve size before ordering.

Does this kit include the complete valve housing?

No. This is an internal rebuild kit, not a complete water valve assembly.

Are the six T-Valves included?

No. The kit replaces the primary internal actuator components but does not include the T-Valves.

Does the kit include the gear assembly?

Yes. A factory-assembled gear plate is included.

Does it include the impeller?

Yes. The impeller is included.

Why does the new gear assembly look different from my old one?

Pentair/A&A updated the gear plate design. The newer assembly may use 10 gears rather than the previous 5-gear configuration, which helps promote more even gear wear.

Will this fix an A&A valve that is not changing zones?

A worn gear assembly, cam, shaft, or impeller can cause a valve to stop cycling. This rebuild kit replaces those primary mechanical components. However, improper pressure, damaged T-Valves, blocked plumbing, or other system issues can produce similar symptoms.

How do I know whether I have the correct valve?

Confirm that your valve is a 2-inch, Low Profile, 6-Port T-Valve-style A&A/Pentair water valve. Checking the existing valve design and original part numbers before ordering is highly recommended.
