Product Overview

Replace a damaged or missing strainer basket in a compatible Pentair C-Series commercial pump with part 072795. Pentair identifies this component as the C-29 stainless steel, 11-inch basket used inside the pump’s strainer pot.

The basket catches leaves and larger debris before they reach the pump impeller. In commercial pool and spa systems, a basket that is bent, broken, or no longer seated properly can let debris move deeper into the pump. Replacing it helps maintain the strainer’s intended debris collection and makes routine cleaning straightforward.

Compatibility & Specifications

Verify the part number against your pump or strainer assembly before purchase. C-Series components should be selected by the equipment’s model and parts diagram, especially when servicing an older commercial installation. This listing includes the basket only; the strainer pot, cover, and cover O-ring are separate parts.

Service & Replacement

Turn off the pump and follow the equipment’s isolation and pressure-release procedure before opening the strainer pot. Remove debris and inspect the existing basket for broken welds, distortion, corrosion, or openings that could allow debris through. Clean the pot and check that the replacement basket seats correctly without forcing it into position.

Inspect the cover O-ring while the pot is open. Reinstall the cover according to the C-Series pump instructions, restore water flow, and check for leaks or air entering the suction side. A basket that repeatedly fills quickly may indicate debris elsewhere in the pool or suction system that also needs attention.
