Product Overview

The Pentair 474065 Heat Exchanger Kit is an OEM replacement heat exchanger / tube sheet coil assembly designed for select Pentair 400K HD pool and spa heaters. The heat exchanger is a major internal heater component that transfers heat from the burner system into the pool or spa water.

This replacement kit is commonly used when the original heat exchanger is leaking, scaled, corroded, or no longer transferring heat properly. It is designed to restore heater performance when the remaining heater components are still in good working condition.

Customer-Facing Q&A

What does this heat exchanger kit do?
The heat exchanger transfers heat from the heater’s burner system into the pool or spa water. If it fails, the heater may leak, overheat, shut down, or stop heating properly.

Is this the same as a tube sheet coil assembly?
Yes. This part may also be referred to as a tube sheet coil assembly, coil assembly, or heat exchanger assembly.

Which heaters does Pentair 474065 fit?
This kit is designed for select Pentair 400K HD heater models. Compatibility should be confirmed using the heater model number, serial number, and parts diagram before ordering.

Does this work on natural gas and propane heaters?
It may be used on compatible natural gas or propane heater models, but the correct application must be verified before ordering.

Is this a DIY repair?
No. Heat exchanger replacement is a major heater repair and should be completed by a qualified pool heater technician.

Should I replace the heat exchanger or the entire heater?
That depends on the age and condition of the heater. If the heater has multiple issues, severe corrosion, cabinet damage, or control problems, replacing the full heater may be the better option. If the rest of the heater is in good condition, replacing the heat exchanger may be a cost-effective repair.
