Specifications

Three-Phase Electrical Requirements

This pump requires compatible three-phase electrical service. It should not be connected directly to standard residential single-phase power.

Before installation, a qualified electrician must verify:

• Available supply voltage
• Three-phase electrical service
• Correct motor-lead configuration
• Proper branch-circuit protection
• Motor-overload protection
• Disconnect requirements
• Grounding and bonding
• Motor rotation
• Local electrical-code compliance
• Controller or motor-starter compatibility

The motor must be configured for the actual incoming voltage. Incorrect voltage or wiring can damage the motor.

Motor-Rotation Notice

Three-phase motor rotation depends on the incoming phase sequence. Rotation must be checked during startup.

Incorrect rotation may result in:

• Reduced water flow
• Poor filtration performance
• Priming problems
• Unusual pump noise
• Increased vibration
• Motor or hydraulic damage

A qualified electrician should correct the phase sequence when rotation is incorrect.

Common Applications

The Pentair 011643 may be used in correctly designed systems supporting:

• Pool filtration
• Pool heating
• Chemical sanitation
• Commercial water circulation
• Water features
• Spa circulation
• Auxiliary treatment equipment

Actual pump performance depends on the system’s total dynamic head, plumbing size, equipment resistance, elevation, fittings, valves, and required flow rate.

Installation Information

Professional installation is required. Before installation, verify:

1. Required system flow
2. Total dynamic head
3. Suction and return plumbing sizes
4. Pump installation dimensions
5. Available three-phase voltage
6. Motor-starter requirements
7. Circuit and overload protection
8. Equipment-pad ventilation
9. Required service clearances
10. Grounding and bonding
11. Local electrical and building codes

Install the pump on a stable, level equipment pad in a properly drained location protected from flooding.

Confirm Before Ordering

• Confirm that a 2 HP pump is required.
• Verify that three-phase electrical power is available.
• Confirm the supply voltage is compatible with 208–230/460V.
• Verify that the electrical system operates at 60 Hz.
• Confirm that a single-speed pump is required.
• Compare the existing pump’s complete model number.
• Verify plumbing connection sizes and dimensions.
• Confirm the required flow and total dynamic head.
• Verify motor-starter and overload requirements.
• Do not select a replacement using horsepower alone.

Not a Direct Replacement For

Do not assume this model directly replaces:

• Single-phase WhisperFlo pumps
• Variable-speed WhisperFlo VST pumps
• Pentair IntelliFlo pumps
• Pumps with different voltage ratings
• Pumps with different plumbing dimensions
• Pumps with different hydraulic performance
• Any pump selected only by matching horsepower

The replacement must match the system’s voltage, phase, required flow, head conditions, and plumbing configuration.

Maintenance Information

Routine maintenance may include:

• Cleaning the strainer basket
• Inspecting the clear lid
• Checking the lid O-ring
• Monitoring pump flow and system pressure
• Checking for suction-side air leaks
• Keeping motor ventilation openings clear
• Inspecting electrical connections
• Monitoring for vibration or abnormal noise
• Confirming correct motor rotation
• Maintaining proper water chemistry

Always disconnect, lock out, and verify electrical power is off before servicing the pump.

Warranty Information

The Pentair WhisperFlo pump is covered according to Pentair’s applicable limited-warranty terms.

Warranty eligibility may depend on:

• Purchase through an authorized Pentair dealer
• Professional installation
• Correct electrical wiring
• Proper voltage and phase
• Correct motor protection
• Appropriate pump application
• Proof of purchase
• Compliance with Pentair installation instructions

Damage caused by incorrect voltage, improper phase configuration, reverse motor rotation, dry operation, freezing, flooding, electrical surges, improper plumbing, chemical exposure, or unauthorized repairs may not be covered.
