Product Description

Improve pool-water quality with the Paramount Ultra UV2 Water Sanitizer. Designed for residential in-ground swimming pools, this supplemental sanitation system uses two high-output UV-C lamps to treat water as it circulates through the unit.

The UV-C light helps neutralize bacteria, viruses, algae, fungi, and other microorganisms that pass through the treatment chamber. When used alongside a properly maintained chlorine or saltwater sanitation system, the Ultra UV2 can help reduce chlorine demand, minimize chloramine buildup, and create a cleaner, more comfortable swimming environment.

This model operates on 230V hard-wired power and features a corrosion-resistant housing, automatic pressure-switch activation, and a visible lamp-status indicator. It is suitable for new pool construction and equipment-pad upgrades.

The Paramount Ultra UV2 is a supplemental sanitation system. It does not replace the need to maintain an approved residual sanitizer in the pool water.

Product Benefits

Advanced Supplemental Sanitation

The dual UV-C lamps expose circulating pool water to germicidal ultraviolet light, helping neutralize microorganisms before the water returns to the pool.

Reduced Chlorine Demand

When properly sized and installed, the Ultra UV2 may help reduce the amount of chlorine needed to maintain clean pool water. Proper sanitizer residuals must still be maintained.

Fewer Chloramines

By supporting the pool’s primary sanitation system, UV-C treatment can help reduce chloramine buildup associated with strong chlorine odors and swimmer discomfort.

Automatic Operation

The integrated pressure switch activates the sanitizer when adequate water flow is present, allowing the unit to operate with the pool circulation system.

Flexible Installation

The Ultra UV2 can be incorporated into compatible new-construction and retrofit pool systems. Its corrosion-resistant housing is suitable for indoor or outdoor equipment areas.

Specifications

• Installation hardware
• Installation instructions

Additional plumbing fittings, electrical materials, tools, and installation supplies may be required.

Installation Information

The Ultra UV2 should be installed in the pool’s return plumbing after the filter and before the water returns to the pool. Follow the manufacturer’s plumbing diagram and installation requirements for any additional pool equipment, including heaters, chemical feeders, and salt chlorine generators.

Installation requirements include:

• Vertical mounting
• Proper flow direction
• Adequate clearance above the unit for lamp replacement
• Compatible flow rate and operating pressure
• Correct grounding and bonding
• Hard-wired 230V electrical service
• Compliance with applicable electrical and plumbing codes

Electrical installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or experienced pool professional.

Disconnect power to all pool equipment and release system pressure before installation or service.

Maintenance

Routine maintenance helps preserve UV output and system performance.

Recommended maintenance includes:

• Inspecting the lamp-status indicator regularly
• Checking the quartz sleeves for scale and mineral deposits
• Cleaning the quartz sleeves when buildup is present
• Inspecting unions, O-rings, and seals for leaks
• Replacing UV-C lamps at the recommended service interval
• Maintaining balanced pool-water chemistry
• Confirming proper circulation and flow through the unit

UV-C lamps may continue to produce visible light after their effective sanitizing output has declined. Replace the lamps according to operating hours and manufacturer recommendations rather than waiting for them to stop illuminating completely.

Important Use Information

The Paramount Ultra UV2 is designed to supplement an approved primary pool sanitizer.

Always maintain:

• Proper chlorine or bromine residual
• Balanced pH
• Correct total alkalinity
• Appropriate calcium hardness
• Recommended stabilizer levels
• Adequate filtration and circulation

The system only treats water that passes through the UV chamber. It does not provide a residual sanitizer in the pool.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Ultra UV2 replace chlorine?

No. It is a supplemental sanitation system. The pool must continue to maintain an approved sanitizer residual, such as chlorine produced by a traditional feeder or salt chlorine generator.

Is this system compatible with saltwater pools?

Yes. The Ultra UV2 can be used with compatible salt chlorine generator systems.

How many UV-C lamps does this model use?

This model uses two UV-C lamps.

What electrical connection is required?

The unit requires a 230V hard-wired electrical connection.

What is the rated flow range?

The system is designed for flow rates from approximately 20 to 80 gallons per minute.

Can the unit be installed outdoors?

Yes. Its corrosion-resistant housing is suitable for compatible indoor and outdoor installations.

Does the system operate automatically?

Yes. The integrated pressure switch activates the UV system when sufficient water flow and pressure are present.

How long do the lamps last?

The UV-C lamps have an approximate service life of up to 13,000 operating hours. Actual replacement intervals may vary based on circulation schedules and operating conditions.

Why must the quartz sleeves be cleaned?

Scale and mineral buildup on the quartz sleeves can block UV-C light and reduce treatment performance.

Is this suitable for above-ground pools?

This model is primarily designed for compatible residential in-ground pool systems. Confirm sizing, plumbing, flow, and electrical requirements before using it in another application.
