Product Description

Maintain dependable chemical delivery with the Pentair 522513Z Stenner Injection Check Valve. Designed for compatible Pentair IntelliChem and IntelliPH chemical-control systems, this replacement valve connects the chemical-feed tubing to the pool’s return plumbing at the injection point.

The check-valve mechanism allows the chemical solution to enter the circulation line while helping prevent pressurized pool water from flowing backward into the tubing, dosing pump, or chemical container. Proper backflow protection supports accurate dosing and helps protect chemical-feed components from water intrusion.

Replace the valve when it becomes clogged, cracked, corroded, difficult to prime, or unable to prevent reverse flow. This listing includes the injection check-valve assembly only. Chemical tubing, controller, dosing pump, tank, saddle clamp, and chemicals are sold separately.

Product Benefits

Helps Prevent Backflow

The internal check-valve mechanism helps stop pressurized pool water from traveling backward through the chemical-feed line.

Supports Accurate Chemical Dosing

A properly functioning injection valve allows the dosing pump to deliver the intended chemical amount into the return plumbing.

Protects Chemical-Feed Equipment

Preventing reverse water flow helps protect the dosing pump, tubing, and chemical container from water intrusion and dilution.

Restores an Existing System

Replace the worn injection valve without purchasing a complete controller, chemical tank, or dosing-pump assembly.

Genuine Pentair Compatibility

OEM construction is intended for compatible IntelliChem and IntelliPH installations requiring part number 522513Z.

Specifications

Compatibility

Designed for compatible applications within the following Pentair product families:

• Pentair IntelliChem chemical-control systems
• Pentair IntelliChem chemical-tank assemblies
• Pentair IntelliPH acid-dispensing systems
• Pentair IntelliPH chemical-container assemblies

Compatibility depends on the controller model, chemical-feed configuration, tubing size, injection fitting, and equipment generation.

Confirm that the existing system specifies Pentair part number 522513Z before ordering. Do not select this valve for an unrelated chemical feeder based only on appearance or tubing size.

Package Includes

• One Pentair 522513Z Stenner injection check-valve assembly

Not Included

• Chemical-feed tubing
• IntelliChem or IntelliPH controller
• Chemical-storage tank
• Stenner dosing pump
• Saddle clamp
• Chemical injection fitting
• Compression nuts or connectors
• Acid, chlorine, or other pool chemicals
• Personal protective equipment

When to Replace the Injection Check Valve

Replacement may be necessary when:

• Chemical is not entering the pool return line
• Pool water backs up into the chemical tubing
• The valve is clogged with scale or chemical deposits
• Chemical residue appears around the injection point
• The valve body is cracked, brittle, or damaged
• Threaded connections are worn or corroded
• The dosing pump repeatedly loses prime
• Chemical delivery becomes inconsistent
• The valve leaks while the system is operating
• The internal check mechanism no longer closes properly

A chemical-feed problem may also result from worn pump tubing, blocked feed lines, an empty chemical container, damaged fittings, or an improperly programmed controller. Inspect the complete system before replacing components.

Installation Information

Chemical-injection equipment should be serviced by a qualified pool professional familiar with automated chemical-dosing systems.

Before installation:

1. Turn off the pool circulation pump.
2. Disconnect power to the chemical controller and dosing pump.
3. Prevent the equipment from starting automatically during service.
4. Relieve pressure from the pool return line.
5. Wear the protective equipment required for the chemical being used.
6. Confirm the correct injection location and flow direction.
7. Remove the existing valve carefully.
8. Inspect the injection fitting, tubing, and threaded connection for damage.
9. Install the replacement valve without overtightening it.
10. Reconnect the compatible 1/4-inch chemical tubing.
11. Restore circulation and chemical-feed operation.
12. Check all connections carefully for water or chemical leaks.

Follow the Pentair controller, dosing-pump, and chemical manufacturer’s instructions during installation and startup.

Important Chemical Safety Information

Pool chemicals can cause severe burns, toxic fumes, equipment damage, or dangerous reactions when handled incorrectly.

• Wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection.
• Work in a properly ventilated area.
• Do not mix acid, chlorine, or other incompatible chemicals.
• Keep chemical-feed lines clearly identified.
• Never transfer used tubing or valves between incompatible chemicals.
• Do not operate a system with damaged or leaking components.
• Keep chemical lines away from heat, sharp edges, and moving equipment.
• Follow the original chemical label and safety data sheet.
• Thoroughly inspect the system after maintenance.
• Keep chemicals and feed equipment away from children and unauthorized users.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the complete IntelliChem or IntelliPH system?

No. This listing is for the replacement injection check valve only. The controller, dosing pump, chemical tank, tubing, and other components are not included.

What is the purpose of the check valve?

The valve allows chemical solution to enter the pool return plumbing while helping prevent pressurized pool water from flowing backward into the chemical-feed system.

What tubing size does it use?

It is intended for compatible 1/4-inch chemical-feed tubing.

Is chemical tubing included?

No. The chemical tubing is sold separately.

Does it fit both IntelliChem and IntelliPH systems?

It is designed for select IntelliChem and IntelliPH applications that specify replacement part number 522513Z.

Is the saddle clamp included?

No. The saddle clamp, injection fitting, and other plumbing components are not included unless specifically supplied with a separate installation kit.

Can it be used for acid or chlorine injection?

Use the valve only in an approved, compatible Pentair chemical-feed application. The component must be correctly identified and installed according to the controller, dosing-pump, and chemical manufacturer’s instructions.

Can the same valve be transferred between different chemicals?

No. A valve exposed to one chemical should not be reused with an incompatible chemical because contamination may cause a hazardous reaction.

What can cause water to back up into the chemical tubing?

Possible causes include a worn or blocked check valve, incorrect installation direction, damaged internal components, excessive return-line pressure, or an incompatible injection fitting.

How often should the valve be replaced?

There is no single replacement interval for every installation. Inspect it regularly and replace it whenever it leaks, becomes blocked, shows chemical damage, or no longer prevents reverse flow.
