Compatibility
The 523460 ballast is intended for compatible BioShield systems using the flow-switch configuration, including:
- BioShield 522635 — 50W lamp and 25 GPM rating
- BioShield 522636 — 80W lamp and 45 GPM rating
- BioShield 522637 — 120W lamp and 62 GPM rating
It is not listed as the replacement ballast for the 150W BioShield 522638 system. Compatibility should be confirmed using the UV-system model number, lamp wattage, production revision, existing connector, and Pentair replacement-parts diagram.
Installation Information
Disconnect power to the UV system and circulation pump before servicing the ballast. Confirm that the UV lamp is completely off before opening or handling the system.
Inspect the existing lamp cable, flow-switch connector, wiring, receptacle, and mounting area for moisture, corrosion, heat damage, or damaged contacts. Connect the ballast cable and flow-switch connector by aligning the connector notch and securing the connection according to Pentair’s instructions.
The system must be connected to a properly grounded, GFCI-protected electrical circuit. Do not operate the UV lamp without adequate water flow, and never look directly at an operating ultraviolet lamp.
Installation should be completed by a qualified pool-service professional or electrician.
