The Pentair 236704 Black G2 Series Retro Cleaning Head Internal is a genuine replacement and upgrade component designed for compatible Pentair / A&A Style 2 in-floor pool cleaning systems.

Part number 236704 upgrades an existing Style 2 cleaning head to the newer G2 Retro Internal configuration with variable flow orifices, helping maintain proper water distribution and cleaning performance throughout the pool's in-floor cleaning zones.

Specifications

Style 2 to G2 Upgrade

The 236704 G2 Retro Internal is specifically designed to upgrade compatible older Style 2 cleaning-head installations.

Instead of replacing the complete floor fitting installed in the pool shell, the existing Style 2 location can be fitted with the appropriate G2 retro internal.

This makes the 236704 useful for servicing existing Pentair/A&A in-floor cleaning systems where improved or replacement cleaning-head performance is required.

Variable Flow Orifice Design

The G2 Retro Series uses a variable flow orifice configuration to help distribute water through the cleaning head and maintain effective circulation within the cleaning zone.

Proper cleaning-head flow is important because an in-floor system relies on sequential zones of pressurized water to move dirt and debris toward the pool's main drain or designated collection area.

Maintaining correctly functioning heads helps support:

• Effective debris movement
• Proper zone pressure
• Better floor circulation
• More consistent chemical distribution
• More uniform pool-water temperature

Compatibility

The Pentair 236704 is intended for compatible:

• Pentair in-floor cleaning systems
• A&A Manufacturing in-floor cleaning systems
• Style 2 cleaning-head installations being upgraded to G2 Retro internals
• Gamma Series 2 / G2 compatible applications

Always verify the existing cleaning-head style before ordering. Pentair offers several similar G2 and G2V replacement heads that are not interchangeable in every installation.

Available G2 Retro Colors

Pentair offers the G2 Retro Internal with variable flow orifices in multiple colors:

Important G2 vs. G2V Note

The 236704 is a G2 Retro Internal, not a G2V Venturi internal.

The G2V series uses separate part numbers and has different system design requirements. Confirm whether the existing installation requires G2 or G2V before ordering.

Installation Notes

Before removing or installing an in-floor cleaning head:

• Turn off the pool pump
• Completely relieve system pressure
• Verify the correct cleaning-head style
• Use the proper Pentair/A&A removal and installation tool
• Inspect the floor fitting and sealing surfaces for damage
• Confirm the replacement head locks securely into position

The compatible Pentair/A&A Style 2 / G2 installation and removal tool is commonly identified as Part Number 229642.
