Product Overview
The Pentair Clean & Clear® 200 Sq. Ft. Cartridge Filter (160318) provides high-capacity filtration for large residential swimming pools and pool-and-spa combinations. Its single-cartridge design offers 200 square feet of effective filtration area while supporting flow rates up to 150 GPM.
The filter uses a fiberglass-reinforced polypropylene tank engineered for chemical resistance, structural strength and dependable outdoor performance. Its pleated cartridge captures fine dirt and suspended debris without requiring filter sand, routine backwashing or D.E. powder.
Routine maintenance is straightforward: shut down and depressurize the system, remove the locking ring, lift out the cartridge and rinse it with a garden hose. Pentair states that the Clean & Clear cartridge media is designed to capture particles as small as approximately 20 microns.

Replacement Cartridge Information
The CC200 uses one 200 sq. ft. replacement cartridge element.

Replace the cartridge if you notice:

Cartridge Maintenance
Clean the cartridge when the pressure gauge rises approximately 10 PSI above the recorded clean-filter pressure, or when water circulation noticeably decreases.
Recommended cleaning procedure:
- Turn off electrical power to the circulation pump.
- Prevent the pump from restarting automatically.
- Open the manual air-relief valve.
- Confirm the pressure gauge reads zero.
- Remove the locking ring and upper filter lid.
- Lift out the cartridge element.
- Rinse carefully between the pleats with a garden hose.
- Inspect the element for tears, cracks or damaged pleats.
- Clean the tank interior and inspect the tank O-ring.
- Reinstall the cartridge and securely reassemble the filter.
- Restart the system following the proper air-relief procedure.
Never loosen or remove the locking ring while the filter is pressurized.
Installation Requirements
Install the filter on a solid, level equipment pad with adequate room for plumbing and future maintenance.
Approximately 76 inches of total vertical clearance is required to remove and service the CC200 cartridge. The equipment pad must also accommodate the filter’s approximately 15.5-inch tank diameter.
The circulation pump and plumbing must be sized so the flow rate does not exceed 150 GPM or the rating of the lowest-rated component in the circulation system.
The Clean & Clear series has a maximum continuous operating pressure of 50 PSI and a maximum internal water temperature of 104°F.
