Product Overview

Restore your compatible pool pump with the Hayward SPX3400Z1ECM 2.7 HP Variable-Speed Motor Assembly. This genuine Hayward replacement motor is designed for EcoStar® and select TriStar® variable-speed pump applications that specify this part number.

The motor uses a permanent-magnet design to support efficient variable-speed operation when paired with the correct Hayward drive. Its square-flange mounting configuration connects to the compatible pump assembly, allowing a failed motor to be replaced while retaining serviceable hydraulic components.

For pool owners with a sound pump housing and functioning drive, motor replacement can be a practical alternative to replacing the entire pump. A qualified technician should inspect the motor, drive, impeller, seals, and electrical supply before determining the appropriate repair.

Important Purchase Notice: This listing is for the motor assembly only. The electronic motor drive, digital control interface, and complete pump are not included. Compatibility must be confirmed using the pump model, serial number, existing motor label, and applicable Hayward parts diagram.

Compatibility

A 2.7 HP replacement motor does not automatically increase the pump’s hydraulic capacity. Performance depends on the matched impeller, drive, and original pump configuration.

Installation and Repair Guidance

Installation should be completed by a qualified pool professional. Power must be disconnected before servicing, and grounding, bonding, wiring, and drive connections must follow the applicable instructions.

Replace the mechanical shaft seal during motor replacement and inspect accessible O-rings, the seal plate, diffuser, and impeller. Confirm the correct seal for the pump model rather than ordering by motor number alone.

After installation, the technician should verify priming, leak-free operation, programmed speeds, and any connected automation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this motor include the drive or keypad?

No. The electronic drive and digital control interface are separate components.

Will it fit every TriStar pump?

No. TriStar pumps have different motor and drive configurations. Verify the exact replacement part before ordering.

Can it replace the motor on an EcoStar SVRS pump?

It is listed for the SP3400VSPVR application. The proper SVRS drive and required safety functionality must be maintained.

Will a new motor fix a drive error?

Only if the motor is the diagnosed cause. Wiring, electrical supply, drive faults, and mechanical restrictions can produce similar symptoms.

Should I replace the shaft seal?

Yes. A new, correctly matched mechanical seal is recommended whenever the motor is replaced.
