Technical Specifications

Compatibility Notes

Before ordering, confirm that the existing O-ring or equipment parts diagram lists Pentair part number R172223.

Pentair Rainbow leaf traps may use different seals depending on the model and production version. Do not select a replacement based only on appearance or approximate size.

Installation Notes

Turn off the pool pump and release system pressure before opening the leaf trap.

Remove the old O-ring and clean the sealing groove before installing the replacement. Inspect the lid and sealing surfaces for cracks, chips, debris, or damage.

Apply a light coating of pool-safe silicone lubricant when appropriate. Do not use petroleum-based lubricants, as they may damage rubber seals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the complete leaf trap?

No. This listing is for the replacement O-ring only.

What does the O-ring do?

The O-ring creates a seal between the leaf-trap lid and canister. A damaged or worn seal can allow air or water to leak around the lid.

When should the O-ring be replaced?

Replace the O-ring if it is cracked, stretched, flattened, brittle, swollen, or no longer seals properly.

Can lubricant be applied to the O-ring?

A small amount of pool-safe silicone lubricant may be used to help protect the seal and make lid removal easier. Avoid petroleum-based products.
