Product Description

Keep your in-ground vinyl pool clean with less manual vacuuming using the Hayward PoolVac XL Automatic Suction Cleaner. Designed specifically for vinyl-lined pools up to 20 feet by 40 feet, this cleaner connects directly to the pool’s skimmer or dedicated suction line and uses the existing filtration system for power.

Hayward’s exclusive AquaPilot® programmed steering system guides the PoolVac XL through a predetermined series of turns for systematic coverage of the pool floor, coves, and compatible walls. Its turbine-drive system provides smooth, quiet movement without pulsating hoses or an energy-consuming booster pump.

A wide vacuum inlet, enhanced wings, and flexible skirt help maintain consistent suction while collecting dirt and debris. Debris travels through the cleaner hose and is captured by the pool’s existing filtration system, eliminating the need to empty a separate cleaner bag.

The included 40-foot hose set provides coverage for a wide range of residential in-ground vinyl pools. Installation is straightforward and typically requires no tools.

Why Choose the Hayward PoolVac XL?

Systematic Pool Coverage

AquaPilot steering moves the cleaner through a programmed sequence of turns instead of relying entirely on random movement. This helps the cleaner travel throughout the pool and reduces missed areas.

Quiet Turbine Operation

The internal turbine system operates without pulsating hoses or loud moving components, helping maintain a more peaceful poolside environment.

Uses Existing Pool Equipment

The PoolVac XL operates from suction supplied by the pool pump and filtration system. No electrical connection, power cord, or separate booster pump is required.

Simple Debris Management

Collected debris is directed into the pool’s existing filtration system. There is no onboard filter canister or debris bag that must be emptied after every cleaning cycle.

Designed for Vinyl Surfaces

This ADV model uses components intended for vinyl-lined pools. Using the correct surface-specific cleaner helps provide proper movement while reducing unnecessary wear.

Recommended Applications

The Hayward PoolVac XL W32025ADV is recommended for:

• Residential in-ground vinyl-lined pools
• Pools measuring up to 20 feet by 40 feet
• Pools with an operating skimmer or dedicated suction line
• Pool owners seeking automatic cleaning without a booster pump
• Existing systems with sufficient pump suction and proper filtration
• Routine collection of dirt, sediment, leaves, and other common debris

Compatibility Information

This model is designed specifically for vinyl-lined in-ground pools.

Do not select this cleaner for concrete, gunite, plaster, pebble, or other abrasive pool surfaces based only on appearance. Hayward offers a different PoolVac XL configuration for concrete and gunite pools.

Cleaner performance depends on:

• Pool shape
• Wall angle and transition
• Surface condition
• Hose length
• Return-jet direction
• Pump flow
• Filter condition
• Proper suction adjustment

Wall-climbing performance is not guaranteed in every pool. Certain pool shapes, wall transitions, surface conditions, steps, benches, or circulation patterns may limit wall coverage.

Package Includes

• Hayward PoolVac XL automatic suction cleaner
• Nine connector hose sections
• One leader hose
• Total hose length of approximately 40 feet
• Regulator valve
• Skimmer cone adapter
• Flow gauge
• Installation and operating instructions

A leaf canister, dedicated suction safety fitting, additional hose sections, and replacement parts are sold separately unless specifically stated otherwise.

Installation Overview

Before installing the cleaner:

1. Remove large objects and excessive debris from the pool.
2. Confirm that the pool water is at the recommended level.
3. Clean the pump strainer basket and skimmer basket.
4. Clean or backwash the pool filter.
5. Confirm that the water chemistry is properly balanced.
6. Lay the hose sections straight in the sun to reduce coiling.
7. Connect enough hose to reach the farthest point of the pool.
8. Connect the cleaner to the skimmer or dedicated suction port.
9. Use the supplied gauge and regulator to adjust suction.
10. Redirect return fittings if water flow interferes with cleaner movement.

Proper flow adjustment is essential. Too little suction may prevent the cleaner from moving or collecting debris, while excessive suction may cause poor movement or unnecessary component wear.

Operation and Maintenance

For dependable performance:

• Empty the skimmer and pump baskets regularly
• Clean or backwash the filter as needed
• Check the cleaner throat for obstructions
• Inspect the wings, skirt, shoes, pods, and turbine components
• Confirm that all hose connections are secure
• Replace worn hose sections or traction components
• Keep return-water flow from pushing the hose or cleaner
• Store hoses straight rather than coiled
• Store the cleaner in a shaded, protected area
• Remove the cleaner before adding pool chemicals
• Remove the cleaner before backwashing the filter
• Remove the cleaner and hose before swimming

An optional inline leaf canister may be helpful in pools that regularly collect leaves or larger debris. The canister captures debris before it reaches the skimmer or pump basket.
