Product Overview

The Pentair 520595 IntelliChlor Replacement Union Kit is a genuine Pentair replacement set designed to connect compatible IntelliChlor salt chlorine generator cells to the pool’s plumbing system. It is ideal for replacing unions that have become cracked, stripped, weathered, or unable to maintain a dependable watertight seal.

Each kit includes two complete union assemblies—one for each end of the salt cell. The included O-rings create a secure seal between the cell and plumbing connection, while the threaded union nuts allow the IntelliChlor cell to be removed for cleaning, inspection, winterization, or replacement without cutting the surrounding plumbing.

The union tailpieces accept standard 2-inch PVC plumbing and must be properly glued into the plumbing system during installation. The union nuts themselves thread onto the IntelliChlor cell and should not be glued. This kit contains two O-rings, two couplers or tailpieces, and two union nuts.

Benefits

Replacing damaged or leaking unions can restore a dependable connection between the IntelliChlor cell and the pool circulation system. The removable union design makes future salt cell cleaning and replacement easier because the cell can be disconnected without cutting the PVC plumbing.

The included O-rings renew the sealing surfaces on both sides of the cell. This can help eliminate dripping caused by flattened, cracked, missing, or incorrectly seated seals.

Compatibility

Designed for traditional Pentair IntelliChlor salt chlorine generator cells, including commonly installed IC20, IC40, and IC60 models. Some supplier references also identify compatibility with IC15 configurations. Verify the model, plumbing dimensions, and existing union style before ordering.

This kit should not automatically be assumed compatible with every Pentair iChlor, IntelliChlor LT, or IntelliChlor Plus installation. Newer cell designs may use different plumbing components.

Installation Information

Turn off the circulation pump and relieve all system pressure before removing the existing salt cell or unions. Glue the two slip tailpieces onto the 2-inch PVC plumbing using an approved PVC primer and cement.

Do not glue the threaded union nuts to the salt cell. Position one O-ring between each union tailpiece and the cell sealing surface. Hand-tighten the union nuts evenly. Avoid excessive tightening, which may damage the union nut, O-ring, or salt cell housing.

Restart the system and carefully inspect both connections for leaks.

Confirm Before Ordering

• Confirm that the existing cell is a compatible Pentair IntelliChlor model.
• Confirm that the plumbing uses 2-inch PVC.
• Compare the existing union threads and tailpieces with the replacement kit.
• Inspect the cell’s threaded connections for cracks or damage.
• Confirm that a leaking connection is caused by the unions or O-rings rather than a cracked cell housing.

Warranty Information

Warranty coverage is provided by Pentair and is subject to Pentair’s current replacement-part warranty terms, installation requirements, and proof-of-purchase policies. Professional installation may be required for certain warranty claims.
