Benefits

The Pentair 071720 helps restore proper sealing inside compatible backwash valve assemblies. A worn or damaged rotor seal can allow water to bypass internally, reduce filtration efficiency, create backwash valve issues, or make the valve harder to operate correctly.

Replacing the rotor seal during valve service can help improve valve function, reduce leaks or bypass symptoms, and extend the service life of compatible Pentair/Purex SM and SMBW filter systems.

The Pentair 071720 is commonly listed for Pentair/Purex SM and SMBW 2000 and 4000 Series D.E. filter backwash valve systems.

What does this seal do?
It helps seal the rotor inside the backwash valve, reducing internal bypass and supporting proper filter/backwash operation.

Is this a complete backwash valve?
No. This is the tapered valve rotor seal only. It does not include the complete valve body, rotor, handle, cover, O-rings, hardware, or filter components.

Is this an OEM Pentair part?

Why would I replace this part?
Replace it if the backwash valve is leaking, bypassing water, hard to operate, or if the existing seal is cracked, worn, flattened, or damaged.

Does this fit all Pentair D.E. filters?
No. This part is for select SM and SMBW D.E. filter backwash valve systems. It is not universal for all Pentair D.E. filters, multiport valves, or push-pull valves.
